Seeing art in real life is the best way to see in to an artist's soul. See the art through their eyes. And don't pass up occasions to meet the artist's themselves; at a gallery Vernissage, an art festival or in their own studios during an art tour.
Galleries
Galleries are a great way to view many different works, while a one person show,
puts you into the sense and feeling of one single artist. Smaller galleries like
the Rothwell Hauck gallery noted below also offer the opportunity to meet the artist.
A vernissage is a fabulous evening of viewing art and discussing art with the artist
and like minded people. Contact the gallery for more information. Many galleries
also have mailing lists to inform you of upcoming exhibits and events.

1718 Montreal Road,
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Very comprehensive collection of works by local artists, as well as offering reproductions
and custom framing. Works of art by Deborah Czernecky, a member of the Artbo artist
circle, can be seen at this gallery.
Art Festivals
These large scale artshows sometimes have up to a 100 or more artists. They present
the public with a singular experience to not only view a wide range of art but also
meet the artists themselves. Not only do these shows offer a wide range of artists but also donate proceeds to charities.
Ottawa Fine Art Festival
The largest Ottawa art festival of it's kind, a portion of all sales are donated to the Kidney Foundation.
Coloris Sur La Baie
Located in Rockland, overlooking a beautiful bay on the Ottawa river, this art show draws artists from all over Ontario and Quebec.
Studio Tours
Visit artists in their milieu. Whereas at Art Festivals, you can see the art and
meet the artist, art tours offer a singular experience to visit artists where they
create their art. Although plein air artists often create on the spot, finalizing
of the artwork often happens in the studio. I have watched an artist create over
a dozen sketches on canvas, in full paint while out for a day in the laurentians.
All works of art worthy of framing in themselves. Then to see an amazing interpretation
of that day full scale 5 feet wide at a gallery is inspiring.
Prescott Russell ARTour
This tour begins about 15 minutes east of Orleans - Ottawa and continues to the Quebec border. With the Ottawa river to the North and the 417 to the south, the views in between are spectacular especially in th fall.
