Contiki - Grand European Vacation
"In 1989, having had my fill of life in the big city, I dedicated a year
working full time while at the same time doing contract work to save
enough money to see the world. I worked hard and managed to afford enough
for a two month tour of Europe from London down to Greece and back up
through Switzerland and Amsterdamn. At 25, not having left the continent
before, and traveling on my own, I decided on a two month budget tour
package. Not only did I meet many great young people from Canada and
the other side of the world (australia) but I also tasted the local
flavour of each destination thanks to fabulous outings in each port
of call. From our toolsheds by the sea in Italy to the five star hotel
in Bulgaria, each experience helped to widden my frame of reference
and put myself in the shoes of my fellow denizens of many regions of
this great world. From sitting on the beach in Cannes, to sitting in
a bus at the Yugoslavian border, there was never a dull moment (would
they let us through? would they make us turn back?). And everywhere
I went, my sketch book followed."
